Lawrence D. Crocker, III

        Lawrence “Larry” Crocker currently serves as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles County Civil Service Commission (Commission).  The Commission serves as the administrative appellate body for employees who have received major disciplinary actions, such as discharges, reductions, suspensions in excess of five days, as well as appeals of the scored portions of employment examinations.  As Executive Director, he manages all personnel, administrative, and budgetary matters related to the Commission’s operations.  Larry oversees the Commission’s agenda and hearing dockets, the scheduling of evidentiary hearings, and issues notices, subpoenas, and Commission decisions.

        Prior to joining Los Angeles County, Larry served as the Designated Agency Ethics Official and the head of General and Administrative Law for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).  Previously, he served as legal advisor to FERC’s Chairman.  Larry practiced administrative law for more than 20 years, rising to the position of General Counsel with the District of Columbia Public Service Commission and later the D.C. Public Schools. Larry also served as a hearing officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and an administrative judge for the Council of the City of New Orleans.
